Composition Studies: The Big Lebowski

I've been spending 90% of my semester animating, but near the beginning of the semester I was able to do some storyboarding just for fun. I decided to storyboard a scene from The Big Lebowski for several reasons. 1: I love that movie. 2: I think my biggest struggle with boarding is my staging, and who better to study staging from than Roger Deakins? 3: I love that movie!

Summer 2012

This summer I interned at Jibjab, and I could not have asked for a cooler group of people to work with. I spent the summer working on ecards and learning Flash and After Effects, two programs that we really don't learn at Ringling. When I wasn't doing that, I was swing dancing, hiking, camping, doing yoga on the beach, going to concerts, attending literary death matches, people watching on Venice beach, and hanging out with the amazing and hilarious people at Jibjab. I learned so much this summer and I'm really going to miss it.

This is me on Venice beach. I bought a pair of glasses with boobs on them. Because why not?

NOW ON TO SENIOR YEAR!!!

Legend of Korra

I absolutely fell in love with the show Legend of Korra this summer. When I fall in love with something, I love making fun of it.

Harry Potter next generation

During the year I worked on and off on some Harry Potter fanart. Normally that's not something I would broadcast, but I like how the drawings turned out. SPOILER ALERT! At the end of the 7th book, you find out that Harry had some kids, as did Ron and Hermione and a bunch of other Weasley's. I wanted to draw those kids.
Here's a family tree that JK Rowling did. I used it for reference.

Victoire and Louis, Bill and Fleur's kids. I imagine Victoire would be the bad girl of Hogwarts and Louis would be like a wizard version of Kurt Cobain. He plays the lute instead of the guitar.
Dominique and Molly. Dominique is another Bill and Fleur kid. She'd be the pretty cheerleader type. Molly is Percy Weasley's daughter, and she seemed like an overachiever to me. I think these two steal each others boyfriends a lot.
Lucy is another one of Percy Weasley's daughters, and Roxanne is George and Angelina's daughter. Lucy is a bookworm like her sister, and Roxanne is a troublemaker like her dad.
Fred Weasley and James Potter. Fred is George and Angelina's son, and James is Harry and Ginny's son. They'd be total troublemakers.

Albus Severus Potter and Rose Weasley! I have a feeling they're best friends who constantly get on each others nerves.
And the youngest of the cousins! I tried drawing Lily in a traditional Hogwarts uniform but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Drawing her in a skirt just felt weird; I imagined her as such a tomboy! Hugo was fun to draw too. He's smart but strange.
And all the cousins together!

Dorothy

I'm usually very annoyed with The Wizard of Oz. I'm from Kansas, and whenever I tell someone I'm from Kansas they ALWAYS mention The Wizard of Oz. (For future reference, don't mention The Wizard of Oz to someone from Kansas.) However, I do love the movie and I love Judy Garland, so I did a quick drawing of Dorothy. Maybe I'll do the rest later!

I've been watching the Paranorman trailer on repeat lately, and it inspired me to draw some cute zombies.

Sherlock

If you haven't seen the BBC show Sherlock, you are missing out. It's fantastic! Benedict Cumberbatch is so great as Sherlock Holmes, and he's such a fun guy to draw.
